Proving the sum of two even numbers is even

In this short article, we prove the obvious fact that the sum of two even numbers is itself an even number. Since examples do not qualify as sufficient mathematic proof, we must clearly define what a number means to be even and use that definition to prove our claim. The only time examples qualify as proofs is when you use them to negate a claim (which is called providing a counter example)
